After successfully updating classic Atari cartridge game Pitfall to the 90s with Pitfall: A Mayan Adventure, the first platform game for Windows 95, Activision next turned their excellent game engine to Earthworm Jim, a cult classic on the SNES and Megadrive console systems. Fun, comical, genius, Earthworm Jim has a well-balanced difficulty setting, but if you're stuck here are a few tricks really useful. The protagonist of the game is Jim, a anthropomorphic worm able to jump, run, shoot with his trusty laser gun (for which you will have to collect the ammunition scattered along the levels) and even use your head as a hook to hang at various ends and swing, in such a way as to gain the momentum necessary to make leaps that will take it on platforms otherwise too far away to be reached. Earthworm Jim it's a platform video game developed and produced by Shiny Entertainment in 1993, initially for Sega Mega Drive and later converted also for Master System, Game Boy, Game Gear and Super Nintendo.ĭespite having had only one sequel, simply called Earthworm Jim 2, this videogame was in our opinion one of the funniest, at least of its kind, of those years.
